POSITIVE COACHING ALLIANCE AND NBC SPORTS BAY AREA ANNOUNCE ANNUAL 'GAME CHANGER AWARDS AND BENEFIT', BAY AREA ATHLETES TO HONOR INSPIRATIONAL COACHES

Golden State Warriors Guard Gary Payton II, Former San Francisco Giants Pitcher Matt Cain, Bay FC General Manager Lucy Rushton, Former Oakland A's Pitcher Dallas Braden, and San Francisco 49ers Safety Logan Ryan Will Honor Their Coaches and Mentors

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – March 12, 2024 – Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) and NBC Sports Bay Area announced the annual Game Changer Awards and Benefit, presented by Levi's®, airing Thursday, April 4 at 9 p.m. on NBC Sports Bay Area. All proceeds from the Game Changer Awards and Benefit will support PCA's mission to change the culture of youth sports so that every child, regardless of social or economic circumstance, has access to a positive youth sports experience.

Set to take place at Chase Center in San Francisco on Thursday, March 21, the ceremony will showcase prominent Bay Area professional athletes as they pay tribute to the influential coaches who have shaped their lives and the community. The distinguished presenters include:

  • Gary Payton II, Golden State Warriors guard and NBA champion, will honor AAU coach Darrel Jordan;
  • Matt Cain, former San Francisco Giants pitcher and two-time World Series champion, will pay homage to pitching coach Mauro Gozzo;
  • Lucy Rushton, Bay FC General Manager, will extend appreciation to former Reading FC manager Brian McDermott;
  • Dallas Braden, former Oakland A's pitcher and current A's analyst, will recognize Stagg High School coach Frank Wanner;
  • Logan Ryan, San Francisco 49ers safety and two-time Super Bowl champion, will acknowledge Jersey Pines Youth Football coach Mike McGough.

In addition to these highlights, PCA will recognize the 2024 Coach of the Year, presented by TeamSnap, honoring Coach Marques Lowe of the Vipers Track Club in Champaign/Kankakee, Illinois.

The annual Game Changer Awards and Benefit will be hosted by NBC Bay Area's Warriors pre- and postgame host Bonta Hill alongside former captain of the U.S. women's national soccer team and national broadcaster Julie Foudy.
