Brandi Chastain Shares Her PCA Passion at San Jose Earthquakes Game

09.16.2016

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes hosted their sixth annual A&W Celebrity Root Beer Float Night on Saturday, Sept. 10th in the 7UP Epicenter prior to the club’s match against Seattle Sounders FC. All proceeds for Root Beer Floats went to PCA-SF Bay Area.

Brandi Chastain, a PCA National Advisory Board Member, famed for her iconic penalty kick conversion that clinched the 1999 Women's World Cup Soccer title for the U.S., was a celebrity ice cream scooper for the event. She was also joined by other PCA supporters, such as National Advisory Board Member Brenda Villa and former soccer star and PCA Trainer Danielle Slaton.

In her role as celebrity ice cream scooper, Brandi made an appearance on the video board, her passion for the PCA mission coming through clearly. As Brandi mentioned,

I love ice cream. I love that the Earthquakes are involved in helping PCA.

Brandi elaborated, explaining, "We're all here for the right reasons. And that's to enjoy the game. The value of sport is so important...it's not just the wins and the losses. Even though Aly Wagner (former teammate and fellow ice cream scooper) likes to win a lot. Learning about why sport is so important for kids and to share that message, for me, it's critical."

As Brandi shared, she loves the Earthquakes, she loves soccer, and she loves PCA. What a perfect way for her to be involved in all three at once.
